This particular play is about a man whose behaviour, which includes drug use, puts him at risk of getting infected with HIV. After diagnosis he meets a girl, gets sick, but doesn’t reveal his status. In the end he dies, leaving behind a bereaved girl friend.HIV prevalence among the Garifuna is not particularly high, but compared to the general population it is. That’s why many of the HIV prevention efforts focus on this group.The group performs every monthThe event attract a crowd from all generations. There’s loud laughter, lots of cheering. After the play is over, people in the audiences have a chance to voice their opinion about characters, and what they would do if it were to affect their own families. People are very engaged with the subject, and share lots of wisdom about parenting and staying away from risky behaviors. The event ended with lots drums, music and dance. Children not older than 4 years, as well as aged women, old showing spectacular moves on stage.
