Guarding Against Malaria in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka certified malaria free by WHO (2016)
In Diganwewa, Sri Lanka, the meeting space is standing room only with villagers who have come to learn how to prevent malaria and how to recognize warning signs. Although it has been several years since there has been a case of malaria in the village, it is very important that vigilance be maintained, or the disease could resurge. Sri Lanka is the first country in Southeast Asia to have successfully controlled malaria, thanks to Global Fund support.
