Because tuberculosis is generally transmitted in crowded and poorly ventilated spaces, residents of Chittagong’s Tigerpass Railway slum are at high risk of falling ill with TB. With Global Fund support, the government of Bangladesh is working in partnership with civil society organizations to provide thousands of poor residents with treatment and care for tuberculosis. Through the program, services delivered by community health workers arebringing hope to the slums.

Ending the epidemics of AIDS, TB and malaria is embedded within Sustainable Development Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all.
