Melekouko Primary School – a school in a remote village 80 kilometers from Abidjan, the capital of Côte d’Ivoire: A young student listens to a social worker explaining how to stay in school while preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). In the country, the Global Fund supports a program on reproductive health, which helps the students gain knowledge about how to avoid early pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. Last year a girl, 12 years old, dropped out of the school due to pregnancy.
