TB Treatment and Care For The Urban Poor
PHOTO OF THE WEEK (27 MARCH 2014) - Chittagong is Bangladeshs second most populous city, and home to many of the countrys booming garment factories. Because tuberculosis is generally transmitted in crowded and poorly ventilated spaces, residents of Chittagongs Tigerpass Railway slum are at high risk of falling ill with TB. With Global Fund support, the government of Bangladesh is working in partnership with civil society organizations to provide thousands of poor residents with treatment and care for tuberculosis. Through the program, services delivered by community health workers are bringing hope to the slums.
