Protection, Care and Rights for Transgender Women.

Outreach worker Maria Rosaura Jajoy meets with transgender sex workers in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. She promotes safe sex practices and family planning, talks about issues of self-esteem, and informs them of their rights. Maria also encourages regular health check-ups, distributes condoms and demonstrates how they should be correctly used. HIV rates in Guatemala are particularly high among transgendered women, men who have sex with men and female sex workers. As a result, prevention and care activities specifically target these vulnerable groups.
