PHOTO FROM THE FIELD (13 AUGUST 2015) - At an elementary school in a rural community in western Cambodia, villagers attend a malaria awareness session conducted by a local “Village Malaria Worker”. Turnout is high and participants are keen to learn how they can protect themselves and their children from falling ill. After the session people have an opportunity to be tested by taking a simple finger-prick blood test, and if the test shows that they are carrying the malaria parasite, treatment is provided on the spot for free. Testing and treatment as well as training of the community health workers are all made possible with support from the Global Fund and its partners.
