An earlier sputum test turned out negative, but Lach Sam’s experience with recognizing TB symptoms made her convince Din Kolad to get re-tested. The new test confirmed she indeed has tuberculosis and Lach Sam has been supervising her treatment ever since. With Global Fund support, village health volunteers like Lach Sam are trained to seek out potential new TB cases, provide treatment and information, and report to nearby hospitals about health problems that exist in their communities.
