Thanks to health volunteers’ relentless efforts to verify that all school-age children sleep under mosquito nets during the rainy season, when the disease strikes most, school absenteeism and child mortality rates have been reduced to nearly zero in 80 villages near Kayar. By bringing care closer to the people, community health workers are helping put an end to parents’ nightmares and give flight to children’s dreams.
