Right To Care ART Adherence Support Club
The program is one more step toward decongesting facilities, as the clubs also serve as the pick-up point for ART patients to collect their meds. In the past, long queues at clinics lead to lack of adherence for patients who couldn’t (or didn’t want to) spend a day waiting in a clinic. At the Krugersdorp Central Clinic, the Club meeting on July 7 is lead by lay counselor POPIE MOSEBETSIE, who opens the morning session with a welcoming presentation (mostly in Xhosa), then invites the group to share and discuss any topics that may be on their minds. She started as a lay counsellor in 2009 and became an adherence counselor as the program came online in 2014.
