Making Headway in the Fight Against Malaria in Mozambique
WORLD MALARIA DAY (25 APRIL 2015) – A bale of mosquito nets is carried to shore in Maputo Province, Mozambique during a nationwide campaign to distribute more than 5 million mosquito nets to families at risk of malaria. From islands off the coast to villages deep in the heart of rural Mozambique, distribution teams are tasked with giving out thousands of free nets each day, according to carefully mapped plans and lists of community members. The Global Fund has financed the distribution of 16 million mosquito nets in Mozambique since 2002, and the current campaign aims to bring the country to universal coverage with nets for the first time.
