One Stop Shops for HIV and TB Testing and Care a Winning Strategy in Zimbabwe

PHOTO OF THE WEEK (26 MARCH 2015) - “I was shocked,” says Melody Maputsha of being diagnosed with both HIV and TB a month earlier. “This TB and HIV, I thought maybe I couldn’t make it.” The nurses and counselors at Mtapa Clinic in Gweru, Zimbabwe encouraged her not to worry, but to follow her ARV and DOTS treatment religiously. “People are living with it, HIV and TB.” she says. "TB can be cured, you can carry on with your life.” A network of more than 1400 Opportunistic Infection clinics throughout the country have more than doubled the number of people tested for HIV between 2005 and 2013, making possible a 47% reduction in AIDS-related deaths.*
