With support from the Global Fund, Ethiopia has trained over 40,000 health extension workers to make health care more accessible to the population, of which 83% lives in rural areas. Strong systems for health combine skilled health workers with solid infrastructure, reliable information and logistics to deliver quality health care to its people.
The program has resulted in significant improvements in maternal and child services.
