A family beds for the night in Khamaukkyi, a township in the southern Myanmar province of Kawthaung. Their father, Aye Min knows from personal experience how debilitating the malaria parasite can be. About 15 years ago, the 44-year-old fishery worker was struck down by a nasty bout of the disease. He was unable to work for more than a week as he endured fever and shivers. Aye Min is keenly aware that the consequence of malaria can be even more severe for children, and insists his kids sleep under an insecticide-treated mosquito net each night.
