Undarmaa E. puts herself in the position of the sex workers she helps. She sees their challenges in life, including gender-based violence, financial pressures from families that result in them working, and the struggles staying on treatment for syphilis when they’re frequently on the move. Undarmaa is a case manager for the Global Fund-supported NGO “Perfect Ladies” in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The organization offers training, outreach, testing and counseling for sex workers. June 2019.

Undarmaa says the most difficult part of her job is seeing girls and women lost to follow-up – who discontinue their treatment or counseling – because they move to a new street or sauna to, for example, gain new business or avoid the police.
