Idrissa Dramé, a medical entomologist, and his team catagroize and test mosquitos for malaria infection at the Centre National de Recherche et de Formation sur le Paludisme in Ouagadougou. The use of insecticides in netting, households and on a large scale in agriculture has caused malarial mosquitos to develop resistence to the insecticides. The research center is developing new generations of mosquito nets with agents that make tradional insecticides more efficient and nets with two new insecticides. The new mosquito nets are being developed and tested in Burkina Faso with support by the Global Fund. Burkina Faso is one of the ten countries the most affected by malaria in the world.
